I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Island Pacific Academy

My dad died from colon cancer when I was in fourth grade. I honestly felt like I did not have enough time to get to know him, and for a long time, I felt that it was unfair that my father couldn't be a part of my childhood. I can't imagine what it is like for parents of kids with cancer- the fear that their child may have to leave their lives- but I have honestly felt the effect that cancer can make on a family, and because of that, I have always been passionate about cancer research. I feel that if we as a community can really tap into the reserves of human compassion that we all have, more kids will be able to parts of their parents' lives.
