Hey guys, on May 18 I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Wanna join me?
Then how about supporting me?
The details: I’m participating in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation head shaving fundraiser at the Plymouth ROC. St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. They fund more grants than any organization besides the U.S. government. In the U.S. more children die of cancer than any other disease – more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital abnormalities, and diabetes combined.
I don’t have kids (well, of the two-legged variety, anyway). So why am I doing this? I have lost loved ones to cancer and I have loved ones who have endured but survived cancer. Any way you look at it, cancer sucks. I can’t even imagine losing a child to it. And I don’t want anyone else to have to imagine it, either.
So how does me shaving my head help? Because kids often lose their hair during treatment, participants in the St. Baldrick’s event shave their hair voluntarily (full disclosure: we’re allowed to keep around 1/4”, if we choose) to show support and to inspire family and friends to donate money to support childhood cancer research.
I hate asking people for money, but for this one, I’m asking for your support. Any donation you can make will be appreciated!
