I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! I have never had to experience a loved one going through the long and difficult process of beating cancer. I have never had to experience watching their bodies be battered by numerous chemotherapy sessions and their spirit becoming cast down having to fight with this invisible enemy we know as cancer. But, just because I don't have a personal connection to those who have fought cancer, does not mean I can't do my part in joining the fight to find a cure for it.
St. Baldrick's is an event where people voluntarily shave their heads with people sponsering their decision through financial donations. These donations are to go towards childhood cancer research which is more underfunded than cancer research for adults. There is a difference in the types of cancers that children and adults face and it is up to us to take the initiative and work towards finding a cure. It is so easy to just say "oh, someone else will help - my participation can't make that much of a difference." Believe me, your participation can. Every little bit helps and no contribution is to small. Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. I hope you will be able to sponser me and keep this event in your thoughts and prayers so that the money can be raised to provide financial support for childhood cancer research.
