I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: S.M.I.L.E.

I'm shaving my head to raise money for money for pediatric cancer research. I’m doing this for the kids who don’t have a choice in whether or not to lose their hair. For the kids who have their childhood stripped away from them at a very young age due to the severity of this disease. It’s one thing to care about these kids and it’s another to actively participate in the search for a cure. My family has been affected by cancer, from my grandmother, grandfather, and great aunt. I’m doing this in honor of them. I want them to be able to look down from heaven and smile at the person that I’ve become. I’m doing this to make a statement. Beauty primarily portrayed by the media is so narrow. We grow up in a society teaching that long hair is the prime depicter of feminine qualities. In many instances short hair is viewed as ‘taboo.’ I want to eradicate these perceived notions within myself and within the world to show that beauty truly comes from the inside. I’m going bald for a bold cause.
