I'm back at it again! Shaving my head to help raise money for childhood cancer research!
I am proud to announce that my former student, Carlo, is now a freshman in college and is doing great! He remains cancer-free, but still lives with the reminders of his fight. Unfortunately, just a few weeks ago, another student/athlete of mine - Jakob - was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. I had Jakob as a middle school student and coached him in baseball, basketball, and football and we remain very close. He has a tough fight ahead of him, but we're all hopeful he will make it out OK. He has all the support in the world in the form of family and friends, and he's one of the toughest kids I've ever met. I have faith that, like Carlo, he will win this fight.
Just like with Carlo, I keep noticing that cancer does not discriminate. In all my experiences, it seems to always strike really GREAT kids. It is this fact that keeps me trying to help by participating in St. Baldrick's every year. And this year, I have left my head untrimmed/uncut since June 20, 2013. It's gotten pretty long and I have been compared to many a celebrity from the 70s and 80s. I do not think this is a compliment, so I cannot wait to get my head shaved!
Here is what I've been told my hair looks look like at this point:

Please make a donation to help support Carlo, Jakob, and ALL children who are forced to fight this dreaded disease at such a young age. I thank you in advance for whatever you can give!
All my best always,
Brendan
