I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. When a family is told that "Your child has cancer." their lives are forever changed, and the child has just been given a diagnosis to last their lifetime. 1 out of 5 kids will not survive, and those that do face a lifetime of medical issues including secondary cancers, many resulting from the radiation and harsh chemicals of cancer treatment.

A child diagnosed every 3 minutes does not make pediatric cancer as rare as it is believed to be. Yet childhood cancer research is very much underfunded. The bulk of available research funds are spent for the common adult cancers. But money spent for childhood cancer research can help improve survival rates, potentially reduce post-cancer treatment medical issues survivors must deal with, and has a greater impact on life expectancy than investments in other areas of cancer research. Most of all it lets kids be kids.

On March 6 I am shaving my head to honor my daughter Sophia, a 5-year cancer survivor, and all other kids who struggle with cancer. Cancer kills more of our kids than other childhood diseases combined. Please help me make a difference for our children.

Thank you.
