I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Go Bald Or Go Home

My name is Eric Spartz. This year I'm shaving my head in honor of two children I personally know and met from a camp I volunteer at called TLC camp in Lombard Illinois. TLC is a non profit donations camp that benefits children directly affected by cancer. We spend one week in the summer doing extravagant field trips and events so these kids can take a break from all the stress of their every day life and focus on just enjoy being a kid. You would think the staff and counselors are there to be role models for these kids, when in reality it's the exact opposite, these kids are OUR role models. through countless surgeries, Dr.appointments, various therapies, somehow these kids never stop smiling, they never stop laughing and they never stop fighting. These kids are the bravest warriors I have ever come to know. I started working TLC camp almost 11 years ago as a general camp helper. Of the 11 years two individuals really come to mind. About four years ago I met a young man by the name of Lawson who really changed something inside of me, his situation and story was a real awakening to life as I lived it, he went on to battle cancer not just once but twice and beat it BOTH times. Lawson was honored by the Chicago Blackhawks "hockey fights cancer night" oct 29th 2011 and is now a healthy young man in highschool.

Then again 2 years ago, on a hot bus traveling on a TLC field trip I was sitting next to a little girl who was telling me all about her own fundraisers she participates in. At such a young age the words straight out of her mouth were "I like to raise money for kids so they don't have to live with cancer"... At that moment the friendship to a little girl far beyond her years had sparked, and she is quite a hit at camp! This year I'm shaving my head and fundraising money in the name of two of the most incredible selfless people I have ever met, Rosie a great warrior and Lawson the great success story of a child who never gave up.
