I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
About a month ago, my family and I found out that my 5 year-old niece, Kiranie, has cancer. Her kind of cancer is called Wilms Tumor cancer. It is a cancer that is commonly found in kids, usually around her age, and it affects the kidneys.
A few days after finding out the diagnosis, Kiranie went through surgery to remove the cancer. We later found out that it is Stage 3, which means that it has spread to her lymph nodes. Kiranie is going through chemotherapy right now and will soon begin radiation.
The outlook is positive. The doctors are very optimistic and we are trying our best to stay positive and strong. Kiranie is pretty aware of everything that is going on, but I'm not sure she really understands how serious cancer is.
I decided to shave my head in support of my niece because I don't want her to feel alone. I can't imagine how hard it would be to loose all my hair from something I have no control over. Kiranie has been such a fighter through everything that has happened! She has truly become my inspiration and role model! I hope one day she will look up to me as much as her younger sister and I look up to her!
PS: Any donation would help! Remember, the money goes to kids with cancer!!
Thank you so much!
