I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
On Saturday Feb. 8, I went to a local Starbucks to grab some coffee. While waiting for my coffee to finish, I noticed on the community board a poster for an upcoming St. Baldrick's shave event. I had never heard of this organization before or this type of outreach effort, but was immediately drawn to the family in the photo that had shaven their heads for childhood cancer research.
It is hard to describe what happened to me in that moment. It was a moment where something just felt so right, like it was meant to be. I was there on a random day, with this random poster plastered among dozens of others, and yet I felt so connected and such a strong desire to become involved. On March 8, I will be a shavee.
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
