Every dollar counts…
This year will be my sixth consecutive year participating as a shavee for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation annual fundraiser to ‘Conquer Childhood Cancer’! As a shavee I volunteer to have my head shaved in solidarity for the infants, children, teens, and young adults that so courageously battle so many different types of cancer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Believe me, getting my head shaved is the easy part. For the families experiencing childhood cancer, summoning the courage and making sacrifices necessary to battle childhood cancer is undoubtedly the hard part. As you can well imagine, with or without insurance, cancer treatment and monitoring during remission is very expensive. More researchers and physicians than imaginable are working tirelessly to find cures and develop management regimes for childhood cancer which carries a very high cost as well. Although donations are accepted year round, the main event is the annual head shaving event that is held on various weekends all around the USA typically in February and March. This year I was scheduled to be a shavee at Finn McCool’s Irish Pub in New Orleans on March 22nd, but due to a conflict I had to change to the Deutches Haus event which will be held on March 29th. In addition to volunteering as a shavee, I volunteer to raise funds that will go towards the fight to ‘Conquer Childhood Cancer’. This year I set a very modest goal of $200. I would like to ask if you could help me reach or surpass that goal with a donation. There is no minimum donation and there will be no hard feelings if a donation is not made. Donations towards my goal can be made safely and securely by looking up my name at www.stbaldricks.org. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this message. …every dollar counts – Sean Mickal
