I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

My name is Royce and I love my hair. I've had it as long as I can remember. I cut it to look pretty; I straighten it to look sleek; I wear it up in a ponytail when I play soccer with my kids. My hair is very much me, my femininity, my silhouette, my comfort. Something I hide behind when I need hiding. something to show off when I need showing off. Something to twirl in my finger when I get nervous or scared. I think about kids-especially girls-who don't have hair due to cancer treatments. Not only are they stripped of the normalcy of their childhood but stripped of the normalcy of their appearance too. Imagine looking at yourself and seeing something so different from everyone else. Nothing to twirl in your finger when you get nervous or scared. And imagine how nervous and scared those kids must be. I don't get an opportunity in my life to do too much for others outside my own family. I don't have a ton of money and I don't have a ton of time. But, I'm going to make a difference. I'm going to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. You know what I'm going to do to raise that money? I'm going to shave my head. I'm looking for sponsors and hope to earn $1500 for St. Baldrick's. I need your help. Maybe together we can help make some child well or just make them feel okay about their bald head.I know how I'll feel about mine. Please donate here and join me at Starbucks for the "Big Shave" on April 5th. If you're interested in being a "Shavee" get in touch with me. I'd love to have another person in the barber chair!
