I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Since I started my page I've had several people ask me why I am shaving my head. Fortunately I don't know any children with cancer and I pray none of the kids in my life get it. I am doing this because on June 13, 2013 I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. She wasn't just my mom she was my best friend. If you've ever seen Gilmore Girls its a pretty accurate description of our relationship (sarcasm and all). Some of you already know me and understand why, some of you have lost a loved one to cancer and understand with out question, but some of you might only be acquaintances and maybe you've been lucky enough to avoid being close to someone with cancer. When I was with my mom in the hospital I saw the strongest person I knew turn frail. The weight loss, the illness and the depression were painful for her but were also painful for my family and I to watch. The reason I'm chopping my locks is because I know the loss of parent to cancer, but I can't imagine the loss of a child to it.
