I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Unvitable!

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Unvitable!

I have shaved my head before for no apparent reason. Since I'm a girl from India, it was one hell of an experience for me. It was not just shocking for most of the people around but was also an eye-opener for me as I could analyse people's perceptions and judgements based on what I did to my hair. In India, a girl shaving her head is either associated with religion or with a loss of a male family member. Since my reasons were neither, my family was quite hostile but in the end those who loved me stood by me. It taught me one important thing that even though I don't care about my hair, the world around me does. And I don't think that makes any sense. I was swamped with questions that I didn't want to answer. I did not fit in. Which brings me to why I feel kids with Cancer really need to feel that they blend in. Adults can understand why they lose hair and what's happening with their body when they are fighting cancer. Kids however feel left out, judged and can't process people's reactions. I am shaving my head to let the world know that bald kids are just bald and should be treated as equals, just the way I deserve to be. Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
