I have been privileged through the sport of hockey to have had many opportunities to make a difference in kids lives, whether it was through elementary school visits or team learn to skate programs. Each community has always been so welcoming, and the kids so engaged, that it quickly became one of my favorite parts of being involved in the game. There were many times in my career when the pressure seemed too great or the personal performance had faltered to a place where I felt like giving up and if it weren't for the unconditional love of the kids and the impact that we were able to make, I probably would have done just that and hung up the skates for good. For that reason, this year I have decided to return the favor and get in the corner of some children who are not fighting for their careers, but for their lives. Through unconditional love in the hospitals and support by shaving my head I hope to give these kids the same strength to never give up that they had given me throughout my years as an athlete. Please help me in this mission by making a simple donation to fund the ever expensive research and treatment that is necessary to give these fighters a long and successful life.
