I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Parkwood

My name is Janel MacLean, and I am the art teacher at Parkwood! I am shaving my head on March 15th to raise money for childhood cancer research! This was definitely not a decision that came lightly. I had been growing my hair out ever since I heard our district was going to be having a St. Baldricks event. I was totally prepared to cut and donate 10 inches of my hair. When I was telling one of my students that I couldn't shave my head because I was scared of what my hair would look like as it was growing back out, she said "isn't it crazy that all you would have to worry about is how cute your hair is, when all of those children with cancer have to worry if they would live to see another day." That's when I KNEW I would be shaving my head. I am shaving my head for all of the children out there who don't have the choice. I am shaving my head for all of the children out there who are bravely fighting this horrible disease, every day, and rocking their bald heads. I am honored to be able to shave my head for all of these amazing children!
