I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: PICU- Breaking Bald

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: PICU- Breaking Bald

As you know, I am a RN. I have been blessed with working with some of the biggest hearts in nursing, both in Dallas Texas and now, in Boise, Idaho. I recently took care of a kiddo named "Izzy". He had a tumor. The surgeon who removed the tumor is rare. He is rare in that he stood for 18 hours to remove the tumor and all the "little pieces" that could come back later, bigger and badder. I know there are other wonderful doc's out there but this one took me by surprise one night. He came into Izzy's room and asked him how much money it would take for this doctor to donate so that I would join the "team" and shave my head. I looked at the doctor with disbelief. I reminded Izzy that this doctor is a surgeon ($$$$$) and could afford any number this kid could throw out. Izzy thought for a minute and said, "Eighty dollars…", I was more shocked when the doctor said, "ok..$80 dollars!". I, of course matched the pledge right then! Then the doctor said, "For an additional $50, will you (Izzy) cut Ken's hair?" I quickly looked at the doc as if to question his current level of consciousness. The boy smiled and said, "ok!!!". I, of course matched that amount too then asked the doc how deep is his wallet and suggested for an additional $50 (now up t $180 for both the doc and me) if Izzy and I cut cool designs in each others hair before the final "shave-ola"…the doctor said, "yes". That night, when Izzy's dad came to the room, he was told of our fundraising and pledged another $100. Now, as the group Alabama sang, "my razor is rusty and my barber is bored" and has been my case for well over a year. This hair is not worth the $10 cut at Super-Cuts but for this fund raiser, it has now raised $460. Tonight, I received another pledge of $100 from my new sister-in-law. that is $560 and growing!!!! My personal goal was set at $1500…until I noticed that a surprise member of our team (shhhh…he's the CEO but doesn't want the recognition) has already received 0ver $7,000 in pledges!!!! His hair is really short already! Please help me raise even more than that! No amount is too small! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference! Please look into your heart (and wallet) to help out a great cause. Even if you commit your coffee fund for the next two weeks, it could make a difference. Just follow the directions on the "Donate" button and help a great cause out. Blessings!
