I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

When my mother was undergoing surgery for cancer at the OHSU in Portland, I remember the seeing the Doernbecher Children's Hospital for the first time. It hit me pretty hard seeing how many children were battling cancer. Then I found out that a childhood friend, my neighbor, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He received treatment and was declared cancer-free and is now a father of two. While in the Navy, a much respected Chief lost his young daughter to cancer. And in high school, I lost a good friend who was a vibrant 15 year-old to cancer. Now to honor my friends and their families, I feel it's time to do my small part. On March 6, 2014, I will proudly have my head shaved for this cause. It's only hair which grow back...some children never have that chance. I figure if my Facebook friends each donated $1.00, I'd have $246 raised. If you can give a dollar or two I'd be grateful, if not that's ok...you can come watch me get the ultimate haircut!
