St. Baldrick’s events are a lot of fun for me, but there is one thing the Foundation could not take more seriously: investing 82¢ of every dollar raised in the best possible childhood cancer research. They do one thing and do it well: fund childhood cancer research. $127,543,680 in research grants and counting.
Children with cancer aren't just little adults fighting adult cancers. Childhood cancers are unique and require unique treatment and research, yet government and pharmaceutical funding for childhood cancer research is scarce.
Because of funds raised by St. Baldrick’s... an idea turns into laboratory work... which may develop into a clinical trial... which may progress through all four phases of a trial... which may contribute to better, less toxic treatments or a cure.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds every stage in the process. And when you give to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you don't just give to one institution–your money impacts children who are being treated at more than 215 children's hospitals throughout the United States.
Guided by a scientific advisory committee, comprised of leading experts in the childhood cancer community, the Foundation sets research funding priorities so that every dollar makes the greatest impact possible.
If you've contributed in the past, please know that I wouldn't ask again if it wasn't so very important. No donation is too small and all are tax deductible. Please consider making a contribution to help conquer childhood cancer.
Thank you for your time.
