A little over 2 years ago, I decided to become an oncology nurse and care for pediatric cancer patients. I was a little apprehensive at first...fearful that working with children who have cancer would be too sad. Well, I was so wrong. I quickly learned that seeing children who have lost their hair is no longer synonymous with weak, ill, sickly, vulnerable or sad. I now saw them as strong, powerful, fierce, brave and resilient.
So, I've decided to muster up some strength as well! On September 21, 2013, I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
