My name is Sheila, and I am the mother of a warrior. My 4 yr. old daughter is battling Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. She has had 7 cycles of chemo, surgery to remove her humerus bone, and now has 7 more cycles of chemo to go. One of the most difficult parts of this journey was when her hair began to fall out. How do you explain to a 4 year old little girl why she is losing her hair? While she is and always was the "tough one" of the house ( she is "the boss with the sauce" as she likes to tell her twin brother,(4) her baby sister (2) AND her big sister (7), like most 4 yr. old girls, she is all about princesses, fairies, and tu-tu's . We now call her our 'warrior princess' and she has amazed us with her strength and bravery throughout this nightmare.
I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with my sweet and strong daughter Claire, as well as all kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
I may be a one-shavee show, but I'll be just as bald – and I hope you'll cheer me on with a donation!
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
