I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Samwise Gamgees

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Samwise Gamgees

In September 2007, just days after starting kindergarten, my wonderful niece Grace was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Her diagnosis was followed by surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Thanks to wonderful teams of doctors, nurses and technicians in Providence and Boston, Grace is almost five years past treatment and free of cancer. Other children and families aren’t so lucky, and I will forever be in debt to the people who made her treatment and recovery possible. Two weeks from now, I will participate in a fund raising head shaving event in Providence, RI organized by my sister-in-law, Bekah. She is part of a team called 46 Mommas that has raised over a million dollars for St. Baldrick’s since 2010. Despite having shaved my head daily for the past 10+ years, I’m honored to let my hair grow out a bit in order to stand in solidarity with Grace and her family, as well as other children with cancer and their families. Thanks for your support!
