This past year, I had the opportunity to spend several weeks at Camp Sunshine working with families who have experienced childhood cancer in a profoundly personal way. During the bereavement sessions, I had the distinct privilege and honor to spend time with families who have had to say goodbye to their precious children...what an incredible loss. Here I met Susan Heard and her amazing family. They are inspirational beyond belief.
I came home wondering what I could do to show my solidarity and support for these wonderful families...as I held my head in my hands, it occurred to me that the answer was within my grasp: I'm going to shave my head, I'm going to show the world that it is time to bring awareness to the harsh reality confronted by many families when their children are struck with cancer. My hope is that being bald will serve as a catalyst for conversations that will allow me to share my strong feelings and commitment to providing necessary financial resources to conquering childhood cancer.
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
