Hello to all, near and dear to me. I am participating in an event that I never thought I could picture myself participating in, on account of being scared of even doing such a thing. On Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Nelson's in Palos Verdes, I will be in an event along with my brother and friend, Matt Ablan, in which we will have the hair on our head shaved.
The reason I am participating in this event is for this reason: This event is sponsored by St. Baldrick's Foundation. This foundations purpose is to create shave events to raise money to support children who are struggling with cancer. One particular child who I will be supporting is a fantastic little girl named Jasmine Faulk. This sweet, inspirational, and beautiful little girl goes to my church in Torrance and her parents are dear friends of mine. Towards the end of last year, Jasmine was diagnosed with a form of pediatric cancer called Alveoler Rhabdomyosarcoma. It has been a huge battle not only for her, but for her family as well. However, her positivity and faith has been nothing but awe inspiring. Her attitude is one in which if I had half the perspective towards life that she has, I would be a better person because of it. You can follow her journey with this disease on her blog that was created by her aunt. http://jasminefaulk.com/
My brother and friend, Mat Ablan, felt the need to do something and found out about this wonderful organization that helped in funding cancer research and pushed me to join him in this worthy event. So therefore, it is my honor and privilege to take part in something that is bigger than all of us and overall a great way to support our children who are suffering from all ranges of disease. I ask all who read this to help support Jasmine and make a donation to Saint Baldrick's Foundation. It will not only go to helping Jasmine, but to children all over the country. You can also come and watch this event on the 14th of April to watch Matt and I's shaving extravaganza and bald heads! Please click on "Make a Donation" to give what you can to this honorable cause.
Much Love,
Ken
