In 2000, I chose to cut my long hair, and have worn it short ever since. I have chosen to have my head shaved on February 28, 2009. On these days, and every day, there are children losing their hair as a result of treatment for cancer. Unlike me, these children did not choose to sacrifice their hair. What's more, the loss of hair is not the worst that these children will endure during their battle against cancer. They will suffer - among other symptoms - pain, nausea, fatigue, and fear. Especially fear. I cannot endure those pains on behalf of these children, but I can let them know, through my actions, that they are not alone " that I and others are with them in our hearts and minds.
