On his first birthday, my nephew Henry was diagnosed with infant leukemia. At the time of his diagnosis, he was given a 50% chance of making it to his 5th birthday. He's done remarkably well, survived 2 years of horrible treatments, and is currently in remission. Ten years ago, infants diagnosed with the same kind of cancer had a 10% shot of a 5th birthday.
Now, I believe in birthdays. Kids should have lots of them. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a leader in providing funds for research into childhood cancers. When my sister (Henry's mom) told me she was going to shave her head as part of a fundraiser for St. Baldricks, I was intrigued.
I've moved past "that's interesting" to answering the call! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
