I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Bald Ricks

Most people in this day and age have been touched/stricken to varying degrees by the ravages of cancer. Our exposure ,however, is for the most part is related to afflicted adults. The tremendous life challenging and life altering difficulties faced by those we know and love are difficult to comprehend. One can only imagine hearing the words, “Your child has cancer”. In fact, across the globe, those words are uttered every three minutes. Treatments for afflicted children are every bit as invasive and onerous as adults treatments. Those that survive have long arduous embattled lives with high re-occurrence rates and high rates of subsequent side effect and disease difficulties at the hands of very treatments designed to save lives. Over 60% of long-term childhood cancer survivors have a chronic illness as a consequence of the therapy they received, and over 25% have a severe or life-threatening illness. In an effort to assist in raising awareness and funding for these young among us that are afflicted with disease, The Bald Ricks will be shaving our heads in solidarity this Tuesday at the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game here in Raleigh! Anyone who cares to join this bit of rowdiness, (Rick, sub-Rick, and non-Rick alike!) is hereby invited to join our team! For those unable to witness this histoRick event, for a minimum donation of $50 you can receive a hand autographed team Bald Rick post-shave “glossy” in appreciation of your generosity! No donation, however, is too small…even your time helping spread the word would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and love to all! The Bald Ricks
