I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
I have been cutting my hair every 2 years since I was in 4th grade for Locks of Love. Mia, a good friend of mine from middle school, was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disease called Myelodysplastic Syndrome which was likely to progress to a very aggressive and fatal form of Leukemia. It did, and she became an angle in 2006. She was incredibly beautiful inside and out and she could make anyone laugh. I miss her. In 2003 my uncle became a breast cancer survivor. His daughter, my beautiful cousin Tracey, fought the fight against leukemia. She was strong and sassy and everyone loved it. Last semester in the fall, I told her about this event and that I was doing it for her. She told me that she was proud of me and that she loved me. I miss her very much. She became an angel earlier this year in January. I will continue my tradition of cutting my hair every 2 years to donate, raise awareness, and support cancer research.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
