Hello my Dearest friends, family and supporters,
Once again I have decided to shave my head, (on Saturday, March 16), as a way of showing support for the great St. Baldrick's Foundation. As you already know, St. Baldrick's does an incredible job of generating millions of dollars every year that are used to fund research to find a cure for cancer that attacks our very young, innocent and defenseless children.
As usual, I am hoping that you will support me, and The St. Baldrick's Foundation, by making a donation to this very critical charity.
As many of you may already know, the destructive forces of cancer struck the CBM family very close to home in 2012. The beautiful daughter of Brendan and Karen Hegeman was attacked by the viciousness of AML Leukemia and has been courageously fighting this disease for almost a year now. On March 22, 2012, just 7 days after our 2012 St. Baldrick's Shave, The Hegeman Family was shocked to find out that their beautiful, healthy, active and perfectly normal twelve year old daughter, Sandy, was being quietly and quickly taken over by this aggressive form of cancer. It was discovered during a routine wellness checkup and not the result of any symptoms. It was just 20 days before Sandy was to star in a lead role in "The Music Man" in a local theater.
Since that day, all of their worlds have come crashing down, and we have seen firsthand, how sudden and tragic a childhood cancer can change everything. After many months of hospitalization and chemo treatments, Sandy's cancer went into remission, but on January 30 of this year it came back with a vengeance. Sandy is now once again fighting for her life and is going to have a bone marrow transplant, as soon as those precious vital blood level results indicate that she is well enough for the operation. Please say a prayer for Sandy, and the Hegeman Family. Sandy's condition has never been more serious than right now.
Please help in the fight against kid’s cancer if you can. We know now, more than ever, that you never know when or how close to home it might hit.
