I know that there are dozens of similar asks out there, but I’m hoping that mine will move you to make a donation to this amazing cause. I’ll keep it short and ask that you take action right away. Last year I shaved my head for St. Baldrick’s. Little did I know that a few short weeks later I would be diagnosed with Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma, more commonly known as kidney cancer. By May of 2012 I had my left kidney and some other parts removed, and moved into the next phase of my personal battle, fighting the metastasized disease that remains in my body via oral chemotherapy. The form of cancer I have is not curable (yet) but treatments exist that are designed to extend life, hopefully long enough that a cure is found. The good news is that I am responding well to the treatment. In fact, I would guess that many of you hearing this for the first time are probably shocked to learn about this news, and thinking to yourself “I never would have known.” Well, now you know. If you know me you know that I don’t leverage this terrible disease for anything. I live with it, but I don’t let it dominate my life. And I never, ever use it as a crutch nor an excuse, and have shared it – up until now – with very few people. So why start now? For the cause. If I hadn’t been diagnosed a year ago, there is no doubt that I would be quietly shaving my head again with little fanfare. Now, it is personal, and I implore you all to take on this cause with me, for come next week, I will proudly shave my head and hug every other person who does the same, and every kid there suffering with this disease will make a new friend in me. Can you help me reach my goal? Thank you in advance Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
