Why I do this:
1. The kids. Cancer sucks, we know this. It's even harder when someone so young has to confront it. I will shave my head not only to raise money to help fight cancer, but also to stand in solidarity with these brave, young people in their battle.
2. The kids (part 2). My hair is long enough to donate to Children With Hair Loss, so my hair gets to live a second life of helping others. Kids are already going through that phase when they must define themselves and learn to build up their own self-esteem, then to have to fight such a hard battle on top of that? It's a hard fight for anyone, so if I can make life easier for these courageous, young people, then I will!
3. Cancer research is cancer research. Finding a cure or safer treatment for one type of cancer is a great building block (if not answer) for cures and treatments in other varieties as well. Chances are, you or someone you love will be affected by cancer (or has already). I'm going to do something about it now.
Help save lives by donating toward life-saving research! I'm going to keep up the process of growing my hair out to hair donation length then shaving it all off for fundraising until I raise $10,000 or cancer is cured, whichever happens first. I'm hoping cancer gets cured first.
