Brantlee is taking it all off for cancer research! I have a sister-in-law who I never met. Her first tumor was removed when she was in the 7th grade. It was misdiagnosed, and she went untreated and unwarned of the cancer that was still stalking her until she was in college and the cancer had already spread. She perished two years before I met my husband, but her presence is still felt every day in our family. I am hopeful that through improved research, someone else will get to meet her sister-in-law, brother-in-law, best friend, or soul mate. Since the 1970's, the 5-year survival rate for childhood cancers has increased to 80%, from less than 50%, thanks to improved treatments made possible by cancer research. But the very fact that we still measure success as 5-year survival speaks volumes. We have a long way to go. Please consider helping me with the effort to improve diagnosis and treatment of juvenile cancers. To make a donation, click on "Donate Online" or "Donate by mail or phone." Thank you for your support!
