I'll leave the default message below this one, because there's some good info in there. Pretty much, I decided to this because a friend asked if I wanted to. I figured, hey, it's for a good cause... and I'm not too attached (emotionally at least) to my hair anyways... so sure, why not? I can't think of a child I've personally known that has had cancer. During the signup process, you can pick or search from a list of honored kids... On that list I found a name I did recognize. I didn't personally know Gracie, but I heard about her from my little cousins that were her friends. Seeing my cousin have to explain to her 5 year old why one of his beloved friend was never going to get better and come home? That pretty much sucked... Me giving up my hair to help save a few Gracie's or her friends and family from having to go through that will be totally worth it.
And now for the default message :
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
