I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
My brother's darling daughter, a spunky and ornery red-head, was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in Nov. 2011. My family and I were very thankful to (finally) make the drive from KS to KY to spend Thanksgiving weekend with The Hay family, and to be able to visit Lizzy in the hospital. Our next trip we felt blessed, but in an entirely different way....we drove to KY to attend Lizzy's funeral-June 16, 2012, less than a month shy of her 11th birthday. This has dramatically affected our family, as would be expected, and in looking for a way to share Lizzy's story as well as spread the word about the overwhelming need for more Cancer research, I am thrilled to participate in this event thru my sister's employer-NetApp in Wichita. It will be hard to have 9"+ shaved from my head, it WILL be done out of love for my niece Lizzy, love for my brother's family as they struggle to move forward without her, and my genuine love and care for all of the children across the world fighting this monster of a disease. May God bless this event in successfully reaching all of our goals!
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!!!
