I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. I've pledged to shave my head if I am able to reach my goal of raising $1000.00 for children's cancer research.
It all started when my daughter decided to grow her hair to donate for a child needing a wig. A teacher at her school had a daughter undergoing cancer treatments and all of the children wanted to help. What a great idea. If she was willing to donate, I could too. Then a coworker’s daughter was diagnosed with a rare cancer and endured multiple surgeries and treatments. She is my Honoree, Jasmine. Jasmine’s family participated in St. Baldrick’s last year. They are participating again this year and I have joined their team. After over a year of growing it out, my hair is long enough for donation. And what the heck, if I’m cutting it off I may as well shave my head and start from scratch. Afterall, it could not be for a better cause. My family and I are very blessed to have four healthy children. Giving up my hair to help those who have not been so lucky seems like a very small sacrifice.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
