I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Please help me support St Baldrick’s; an organization dedicated to helping kids fighting cancer. St. Baldrick's is raising funds through head-shaving and other fundraising events. This volunteer-driven charity funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting cancer. This is my second year helping out with the NetApp Wichita St Baldrick's event. Last year I was the Lead Treasurer for the event and helped out with event organization. This year I decided to up my involvement and cut off my long locks for a Locks of Love donation. I have been personally touched by cancer. Right out of college, I began getting monitored for colon cancer. I was on medication for about 5 years to reduce the numerous colon polyps that threatened to turn into cancerous cells. In 2005, I was notified the week I moved to Wichita, KS that my latest lab results showed that the polyps contained signs of pre-cancerous cells. I met with a surgeon and the decision was made to have surgery to remove my colon. This process was a year-long adventure with multiple surgeries, but the reward was worth it because the cancer cells were removed and there has been no sign of them returning. As an adult, I know through experience that the thought of developing cancer is very scary, but I can't imagine what it would be like for a child and their family to have to go through a fight with cancer. When I ask for your support I am asking you to support the kids and families that are involved in this fight. Thank you! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
