I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hello person reading this post! My name is Alison and I'm a student at Rowan University, the host of a St. Baldrick's event on March 26, 2013. While I am not brave or strong enough to shave my head, I know some beautiful souls who will shave their head at this event. I wanted to share my reason for volunteering, and give a personal reason as to why you should donate. This past January, I volunteered at The Give Kids the World Village in Florida, where children with terminal illness can spend a week worry-free from doctors and can embrace the life of a kid. While volunteering, I met a 12 year old boy named Tommy and his family who were spending the week there. Tommy's family and community supported him through his battle with colon cancer and what really impacted my experience was learning that all of the boys in Tommy's class shaved their heads in support of his treatment. I may not be as brave as Tommy or those 20 sixth graders, but I can try to do anything possible to help those like Tommy. Please donate to me or anyone of the participants in Rowan University St. Baldrick's event!
