I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
My main inspiration for volunteering as a Shavee is my friend, Kessler. At the age of fourteen, he was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia caused by a Philadelphia chromosome. After enduring long battle and a bone marrow transplant from his sister, Kessler began to get better. My sophomore year, Kessler moved my high school and we met in our broadcast journalism class. Over the next few years, we worked on many projects together, some at a nationally competitive level. Kessler is currently working towards his dream on being an anchor and has been in remission for over five years! I am so proud of him and honored I got to be one of his first cameramen. I shave my head for Kessler and all those still fighting the fight.
I will also be donating my locks to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Those suffering cancer have an unimaginable amount they are dealing with. If I can to help provide the slightest amount of "normal" to life, then it is worth it.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these children. Thank you!
