I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Magellan Charter School

This year I am dedicating my shave to Jackson Saxby who is currently fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Jackson turned three on September 11th 2012. His well child check up a week later showed no anomalies. Then his mother noticed some bleeding and bruising a few weeks later. He was diagnosed October 2nd of 2012 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B Cell, and immediately admitted to Boston Children’s for six and a half weeks of intensive chemotherapy. Jackson is the middle child of Marc and Erin Saxby. He has an older brother Riley 7, and a younger brother Samuel 18 months at the time of diagnosis. The family was split apart at this time by Erin staying with Jackson in Boston and Riley , (because he was in school), with his father and friends in NH when his father worked. Samuel came to Maine to live his Grandparents. It was a very difficult time. Cancer had taken it’s toll not only on Jackson, but his whole family. Jackson is now home and in remission. He and his mother travel from NH twice a week to Boston for out patient treatments. This will be their life for the next 25 weeks. Then it will be frequent checkups for the next few years. The family has been told he has a 98% chance for a cure. Jackson loves the outdoors. He was just learning to swim at the end of the summer and most days he was in the water playing with his siblings. Although the Chemotherapy has slowed him down some, he never misses a chance to get outside this winter to slide or go for walks with his family. He is such a trooper and makes it easier for his family to deal with his illness. Although he has lost his hair and gained some weight from his medications, he is still the same sweet funny boy he always was. Thanks for your support of this exceptional cause, let's do everything we can to help Jackson and all of those like him fighting the battle against cancer! Grant
