I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Resolution # 1 Be Brave For the majority of my life, I have had hair past my butt. My first haircut was when I was 10 years old and I cried the whole way through. My great grandmother never cut her hair her whole life and many of the women in my family continue the tradition of long locks. I came to the understanding that hair wasn’t just hair. It was a key to beauty; your hair was something sensual, sacred, and treasured. In elementary school, my hair was something for the boys to pull. In middle school it served like invisible cloak to hide insecurities and in high school…lets just say it’s seen better days. As an adult, my hair and I have come to an understanding. Like a good friend, I couldn’t imagine being without it. That is, until my professor showed up to class with a shaved head. She saved off all her hair to raise money for children’s cancer. Even though, she had her doubts about shaving her head, hearing the children’s stories was too inspiring for her to back out. I couldn’t get her story out of my head. Not only did she raise money to help fight children’s cancer, but also she showed that beauty is not defined in a physical feature, but in our character and our willingness to help others. So in an attempt to pay it forward, it is time for my hair and I to part ways. To raise money for children’s cancer, I will be shaving off all 20 inches of my hair. It would mean a lot if everyone could donate to help me reach my fundraising goal or share my posts. Lets help fight children’s cancer and set a new standard of beauty. I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
