I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Montpelier U.S.

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Montpelier U.S.

Friends, The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Four years ago, my wife and I were blessed by the addition of a healthy baby girl, Fiona. Shortly thereafter, I participated in a Hartford, CT St. Baldrick’s event with a group of Montpelier colleagues. Each year since 2009, Tara and I have supported at least one “shavee”. Last June, we were again blessed. This time it was the addition of a healthy baby boy, Flynn. It seems fitting to face clippers for the St. Baldrick’s cause once again. And while the cause is very serious, the Hartford event was great fun. I considered ways to add some mirth to this year’s proceedings. Last time I had a nickname contest (the winner being “Fiona don’t know ya”). This time, I had a different idea. If my pledge total reaches or exceeds $2,500, the amount I raised last time, the largest single donor can choose what color I’ll dye my hair before shaving it. It could be my chance live a day as Papa Smuff, dye it green like the Chicago River or perhaps see if blonds really do have more fun. In the event of a tie, Fiona will choose (her favorite color is pink……….). Your tax deductible donation will be greatly appreciated. If you happen to be in Chicago on the 15th, please join in the festivities (I meet the clippers at 1:30pm). If you can’t make it, I’ll be sure to send and post before and after pictures. Kindest Regards, DD
