I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Be Bald, Be a Billiken

My Story and Why I'm Shaving My Head:

Senior year of high school (4 years ago now) I went through surgery and about 7 ct scans, an MRI, ekg, ecg, intense eye exams involving needles, heart monitoring devices, i missed at least one day a week of school a lot of times two... my doctors thought i had cancer and i had a break down, i was so scared. i told my friends if my tests came back that i had cancer i was going to shave my head because i wasnt going to allow chemo to take my hair from me...if i was going to lose it i was going to lose it when i said and before chemo got a chance...tests came back and i was free of cancer, none in sight... freshman year at SLU i met a girl shaving her head to raise money for childhood cancer research...i immediately thought of the news i got that other kids never got to hear... i joined her, another girl and 5 guys in shaving our heads at a st baldricks foundation event i did it again 1.5 years later and its been about 2 years now since my last shave....
i have an idea what those kids go though on a regular basis, i could never be that strong, i could never be that amazing- so i shave my head
girls tell me all the time when i talk about it "wow you're so brave i could never be bald" and i think to myself you have no idea ...im not brave at all, i literally cried every night for nearly 6 months thinking and waiting- just wanting to hear i didn't have cancer....
its kind of my way of saying thank you to those kids for giving the victims of cancer a face of strength that id never be able to provide St. Baldricks Blurp:
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
