I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Fun Razors

William and I are participating in St. Baldrick’s. This is our first year and we both are going to shave our heads for this wonderful cause. I would love to see us raise $2,000.00 each. The only way that will happen is with your support.

I am very blessed to have two healthy children, and to often take it for granted. As I sat here and read the stories of these children who are sick, it broke my heart. I pray that the money raised will help find a cure for these little ones.

When I received the information from school about signing up for St. Baldrick’s, my mind went back to little over a year ago when I was invited to join a group on Facebook for a friend’s nephew, Jacob Rozek. Jacob had been complaining of stomach pain so his mom carried him to the doctor. They were concerned that it was appendicitis, but after doing some blood work, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the age of 4. Jacob then underwent chemo. Once he finished, he went into remission. Less than a year later, Jacob had relapsed and would once again, have to have chemo. In November 2011, Jacob went back into remission, and in December 2011, he had a bone marrow transplant. Jacob is now one year post transplant and his tests have come back normal.

Jacob’s story has touched my life in so many ways, and I have chosen to raise money for St. Baldrick’s in honor of him.

So Jacob Rozek, this is for you! You are my hero! My prayers are continually with you and your family!
