I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

A momma holding the weight of a newborn baby in her arms never ever, ever imagines a life where her child is fighting cancer. When we learned that our daughter had acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was just 2.5 years old (August 13,2011) our world came to a crumbling stop. Cancer sends the lives of children, who have barely just begun living, in complete upheaval. It takes their parents, siblings, family, friends, and community on an incredibly difficult journey. We do all we can to hold on to the hope of remission, of a cure, of a life without long term side effects from the poisons that we give them to save their life. It is so, so hard.

I want to shave because I want every new momma to hold their newborn bundles knowing that there is NO childhood cancer, of any kind. I want that to be in my lifetime. I want my girls to hold my grandbabies confident that cancer doesn't exist. I want to raise awareness and support those researching, dedicating their lives, to eradicating this horrible disease. It needs to be NOW.

All money raised through my campaign stays in Canada through Childhood Cancer Canada's collaboration with St. Baldrick's.
Please feel free to contact me at jayellecee@hotmail.com for information regarding upcoming events.

I am Jenn. Wife to my high school sweetheart, Steve. Momma to two beautiful girls. I work as a physiotherapist assistant and love my job. I am incredibly blessed that our family is supported by so many family, friends, and community. I am thrilled to give back by participating in the 2013 Shave for the Brave.

Why am I having my head shaved? To stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, who typically lose their hair during treatment. More importantly, I'm doing it to raise funds for childhood cancer research!

Worldwide, more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. The St. Baldrick's Foundation partners with organizations around the world to fund childhood cancer research. We must all do everything we can to give kids a better chance for a cure.
