I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: UNC Oncology Outpatient Infusion Center

I am so incredibly fortunate to be an Oncology Nurse caring for patients at UNCH North Carolina Cancer Hospital. Over my years in nursing I have cared for many brave people and many have beaten cancer due in large part to the research done on pediatric cancers. My own mother died in 1987 after a 6 year battle with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and it is amazing to realize I have come full circle and now provide the skilled nursing care she received as a patient. My colleagues and I care for so many people who suffer the indignities of their battle with amazing grace. For many the nausea, surgeries, and radiation are a misery-but is the actual hair loss that can be so emotionally devastating. My colleagues Paula, Clare, and I want to demonstrate to those amazing patients that we think bald is not only beautiful, it's GORGEOUS! I've lost many special folks to cancer-but this year especially my dear friend and neighbor (and patient) Warren Cox is especially on mind as I prepare for our big event. I also want to honor a very special little guy, Alan Sanders and his amazing family in San Antonio, Texas. Alan is only 5, but has been battling cancer for 80% of his life. He is a trooper and his family, especially Mom Judy, Dad Harold, and big bother Kevin are an inspiration. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. If you live in the triangle area of North Carolina come to Trali Irish Pub on March 9th and have a Guinness while we get shaved! Thank you!
