I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

While my husband and I were stationed in North Carolina I had the privilege of working with a woman name Kristi. While working with her I learned that she had twin boys, Kayne and Ashton, the same age as my then only child Alice. As I got to know her I also found out that, while Ashton was perfectly healthy Kayne was not. Both boys were born premature at only 28 weeks gestation. Soon after their birth Kayne started having some problems and was diagnosed with Infantile HemangioEndothelioma. To prove that it was noncancerous, Kayne had to go through several liver biopsies over the course of a few years. Thankfully they came back noncancerous. Generally, the hemangiomas go away on their own. For some reason, some were still growing. January of 2011 Kayne had another biopsy and although it came back noncancerous again, there was also a new suspicious area on the outer portions of his liver. Shortly after that it was decided that they would get Kayne on the liver transplant list. Through the testing process they found lesions on his lungs as well. After biopsies, Kristi's worst fear was confirmed . . . Cancer. December 3, 2012 Kayne received his first round of chemo to fight his cancer. Kayne and is Mama are two of the strongest people I know and they are the reason I am doing Saint Baldrick's this year. As I shave off all off my hair I will stand in solidarity with Kayne and all children who have/will lose their hair to cancer treatment. Please find it in your heart to donate to this wonderful cause so we can find a cure for childhood cancer! Cancer Sucks! I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
