"Because every child deserves a chance at greatness..."

"I want to make a difference again this year, and with your help I can."

"What children and parents have to endure is unfathomable, but their strength needs to be recognized and supported!"

"I want to make a difference to someone besides myself, and give at least one person a better life."

These are reasons listed by a number of people for deciding to shave their heads in exchange for doanations to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. My reasons for continuing to support the St.Baldrick's Foundation are a bit like them, and yet a composite of my own experiences and beliefs. I never really knew my cousin Danny Pritzlaff. You see, Danny was diagnosed with a 'star tumor' in his brain in 1962. At that time in our history, a diagnosis of cancer in a child was essentially a death sentence. I did not know that. I was younger than Danny.

Danny, like many kids diagnosed with cancer in the 60's and 70's did not have a chance. I did not know that, I was younger than Danny.

Danny died at age 3 1/2, on Mother's Day in 1963, about a month after my younger brother was born. I didn't know that. I was younger than Danny.

Danny will never grow any older. He will always be a bundle of joy to his mother, a sweet little boy with a million dollar smile to his Aunt. I know that. I am older than Danny.

We are all older than Danny. We can make a choice to make a difference. A difference in the life of that one kid every three minutes who is diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer. A difference in the life of a kid who needs a chance to grow older than Danny.

Because of pediatric cancer, I'll never get to know my cousin Danny. With your help, financial and volunteer support, and most importantly your sharing the message about the St. Baldrick's Foundation, someday that statement will be out of our nation's vocabulary.

Thank you for your donation to help make that a reality in our lifetimes.
