I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
This year’s shave has a personal impact on me. In June of 2012, I lost my uncle to cancer. After watching a grown man suffer through something like this, it is something no child should ever have to endure.
I’m going participate at a St. Baldrick’s Foundation event on March 15th, 2013 at Fado's Irish Pub in Chicago. This will be my fifth year going bald for this amazing cause. With my bald head, I’ll stand in support of kids being treated for cancer. But that’s not the main reason. Most important, I’m doing this to raise money for life-saving research. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids.
In 2012 alone, St. Baldrick's gave over $30 million – This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. And all because over 45,000 people shaved their heads!
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
You can give directly online (http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/participantid/578068) or by phone (888-899-BALD). Credit cards are the most efficient way to give, or you can write a check payable to “St. Baldrick’s Foundation.” I’ll be collecting pledges!
On behalf of some very special kids, thank you for your support!
