Those of you who know me realize that this is coming six months earlier than usual. Normally I wait until the Slainte event on St. Paddy's Day to do my fundraising for St. Baldrick's. However this year I have the privilege of participating on the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Team (Team JDCH) at Mickey Byrnes in Hollywood on September 15th (halfway to St.Paddy's). As most of you already know, my daughter Sandy was diagnosed with AML leukemia this past March. After an 18 week battle, I'm ecstatic to report that due to the extraordinary efforts of the Oncology team (and everyone on 4 Central and the PICU) at JDCH she is now in remission. I'm honored and humbled to be invited to participate with them at this event. During the four and a half months that Sandy was a guest at JDCH you, the community, rallied around us and helped in so many ways. I am forever grateful for your efforts. For those of you still looking for a way to contribute, please take a moment to consider donating a couple of dollars to St. Baldrick’s. In the years that I have been participating in the St. Baldrick events, I never thought for a second that I would be directly impacted by the very affliction they are working to eradicate. This is a noble and worthy organization that strives to protect our ultimate asset: Our children.
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
