All,
Thank you so much for all your support! Some of you know, when it comes to my looks, I'm very vain! And, for women, vanity and your sense of self is such an obstacle you must overcome to be comfortable going completely bald! I have learned, after doing this 4 times, that hair will grow back in time and the lessons to be learned along the way are so much greater! After speaking to families of children suffering through treatment, families of survivors, and families that have lost one of more family member, mostly children 5 or younger, it is an honor to shave for them. It's all part of the bigger picture. And, if you don't understand or see that, you will never get the small things that make life so colorful and so meaningful and you will never know the true feeling of giving back. This is the least I can do.
In honor of all the children and families out there that have been touched by Cancer, we do this for you! To all of you that have supported me along the way each year, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
This year I shaved my head in memory of Anthony Sims of the Oklahoma City FBI family...He was such a special little boy, Fletcher Vines of Oklahoma City...was such an inspiration to the St. Baldrick's Event in Oklahoma City, OK to my cousin Sarah, who has such as strong will to overcome all obstacles in fighting this battle (I love you cousin!), and to my wonderful girlfriend, Kelly, who has been battling skin cancer off and on for the past few years (I love you!). And, to all others out there suffering or that have passed. We do this for you! (Please see the new message above...)
Sincerely,
Shannon
