Many people have asked me, "Why shave my head"?..

Kids fighting cancer didn't have a choice when they loose their hair. They didn't choose to walk this difficult journey that effects every area and dimension of life. As a pediatric oncology nurse I have witnessed that in a moment everything shifts in a family and child fighting cancer. They loose a lot of control of their body, their time, where they can go and who they can be with... fighting the disease is now life. And through this I see strength and grace rise up that amazes me. I have seen toddlers stick out their chest with courage as a needle that would cause a grown man to faint is placed in their chest for blood draws and medicine to be administered. I am blown away by the endurance as they are after the prize... life.

They didn't have a choice, but I do. In honor of those I carry in my heart that have fought the fight, and for those who are fighting cancer now I choose to humbly stand with them by shaving my head with a heart of compassion for these precious kids and their families.

I invite you to join and support me by making a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money to find cures. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
